christmas is here!
christmas time
tonight i went christmas shopping for a girl in wheelwright, kentucky whom i have picked to give presents to from church last week. i had the wonderful opportunity to go to wheelwright with cross point a few months ago and was devastated that poverty like that existed at all but especially within my country and even within driving distance from where i lived. it was appalling. (learn more about poverty in appalachia)
so these gifts are for her and my prayers go out to the people who are suffering from the injustice of poverty.

where is that noise coming from?
my new friend, the bird
for several days i have been woken up and annoyed by this constant knocking. the people who live above me are crazy loud so i thought it was just them… but it seemed so much closer this time and got louder and louder. i then realized it was coming from my wall. i went outside and had to check it out. there has always been a hole under my window (cops once thought it was a bullet hole… yea that’s another story) but i guess a bird has been living in there and is just digging deeper. seriously i thought he would bust through my wall any moment.
you can’t really see it in the picture but his head is sticking out… evil!

election day = one of my favorite days
look at all that blue
yup, i should have been studying but how can you study when it’s election day?? just fyi, i studied international studies with an emphasis in political studies in college so i love government and all that surrounds it! so when the big day comes every 2-4 years you bet i am excited. this time there was a party and here’s the map we colored in as the night progressed!
if you haven’t guessed it by now, i was for obama. it was great to see him win and watch the map turn a little more blue.
yay for election day!

i was having some people over for election day, so what better to make for dessert than some red velvet cupcakes (w/ white frosting, red & blue sprinkles and little flag toothpicks coming out!). i was just amazed at how red the batter was! here’s a picture of it
(if you ate a cupcake no worries, this was after they all had been put in the oven so you didn’t eat any of the batter that was all over my hands)

this is where i study
after spending hours upon hours at the library looking down towards a book my neck decided it was done with that and my entire back was in horrible pain. so here’s my desk the next day… my bed, so i can look up and lay on my heating pad

florescent lights are not my friend
florescent lights
one thing i enjoyed about my office when i started was that it didn’t seem like an office, it was all good lighting and welcoming it lacked the normal office feel… well of course it made my day when they made the florescent lights permanent… what’s next?
